  • The ZyXEL ES3500 series Fast Ethernet layer 2 switches are specifically designed for small and medium-sized businesses to deliver valuable Ethernet services to customers and employees. With Gigabit SFP uplinks and robust access control functions, businesses can easily extend network topologies and fulfill different customer needs. The complete ES3500 series also supports IPv6 for trouble-free future network expansions.   • The VigorSwitch P2260 is a high-performance fully-managed layer 2 Ethernet switch. Its specification is packed with advanced features to aid reliability and switching performance to your network. The P2260 has 26 Ethernet ports (24 Fast Ethernet, 2 Gigabit) and two SFP ports (for fiber connection modules). The units can be stacked, and meaning that up to 16 can be linked and managed from one web interface. Features for Quality of Service (QoS), VLANs and network/switch security provide additional flexibility. The VigorSwitch P2260 is a PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch. The Unused wire pairs on the RJ45 connector are used to carry power to the remote device so that the connected device does not need its own local power supply (e.g. mains adaptor). This is particularly useful for devices such as IP webcams or IP telephones where local power may not be convenient but also where an extra PSU would add unnecessary clutter and increased power consumption. The DrayTek P2260 has two SFP (fiber module) ports. In comparison to 'copper' (RJ45), using fiber for uplinks provides longer range and reliance from electrical interference. Each of the two ports can be used instead of the corresponding copper port (ports 25 and 26). The SFP port provides compatibility with your choice of SFP module and therefore the most appropriate fiber technology for your application. The VigorSwitch P2260 is a fully managed Layer 2 switch, not a basic 'Smart Switch' (which is typically an unmanaged switch with some monitoring/control features). A compressive GUI (web interface) provides intuitive control and monitoring of the switches features.

  • The DrayTek Vigor 120 is an ADSL modem with an Ethernet connection; it is not a router but a true ADSL Ethernet modem. By providing a PPPoE to PPPoA bridge, the connected device (firewall, router or PC) can log into the Internet (your ISP) directly and have full control over the ADSL connection - that makes the Vigor 120 a unique product. You can connect any device to the Vigor 120 which has a PPPoE client facility, which includes PCs, most Ethernet-WAN routers and the Apple Airport but the actual connection to your ISP is still PPPoA (unlike other modems which only provide PPPoE native bridging), which is the unique feature of this product and makes it compatible with all UK ISPs, where PPPoA is used as standard. Other ADSL Ethernet 'modems' use workarounds to get a public IP address 'through' to your secondary device/client, requiring non-standard operation and complicated dual-stage setup (modem logs in, router routes) but the Vigor 120 provides the secondary device with a real routed IP connection and the ability to fully manage the connection, making setup easy. In most cases, the Vigor 120 needs no setup or configuration - just plug it in and set up your PC or router. All login/ISP details are entered on the connected client device, not the Vigor 120. This method also differs from using a regular ADSL router which logs in itself and then uses NAT or multiple public IP addresses to create an onward client connection for your secondary device; that is not IP address thrifty, or introduces secondary NAT compromises. With the Vigor 120 bridge/modem, you get a true single public IP address (or multiple, if you have them) straight through to your firewall/router, which also has complete control of the ISP connection.
